From 2009, the University Admission Index (or UAI) was replaced by the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (or ATAR). The ATAR is used to select students for entry into university courses. Like the UAI, the ATAR is calculated using the results of each girl's best 2 units of English, and her next best 8 units of the remaining subjects studied.
The ATAR is a rank based on an aggregate of the scaled HSC results. It gives an indication of a student’s position relative to other students in NSW within their grouping. It must be remembered that the ATAR is not a 'mark' or an 'average HSC result'. Click here for further information about the ATAR.
SCEGGS’ Excellent UAI and ATAR Results
SCEGGS has a reputation for academic excellence, with approximately half of our girls achieving a UAI or ATAR over 90 (placing them in the top 10% of the state) – an outstanding result for a non-selective school. In addition, more than 95% of our girls receive university offers each year.
