Recently, we celebrated a joyful week of music, creativity and community across the School. From the lively atmosphere of Open Mic sessions in the Cafeteria to a surprise flash mob performance of Opening Up from Waitress by the Contemporary Vocal Ensemble, students embraced every opportunity to share their musical talents.
The week also featured the Emma Pask Jazz Band serenading students in the JF foyer as they arrived at school, while our youngest musicians shone at the K-2 Piano Concert, where 17 students performed confidently for family and friends.
The celebrations culminated in Musicale 2, an evening of outstanding performances and joyous music featuring special guest Lior.
We also congratulate two exceptional pianists on their recent achievements. Olivia Yan (Year 3) has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Chopin International Piano Competition for Children and Youth in Poland, and Cheryl Zhang (Year 8) has been selected to compete in the Young Lev Competition which is an honour awarded to only 12 students across Australia and New Zealand. She will compete in the first round early next month. Congratulations to both students, and best wishes for the competitions ahead!
