The SCEGGS Chess team has achieved an outstanding result at the 2026 IGSA Chess Tournament, finishing second overall in the Finals held at Meriden School last week.
This year’s tournament marked a significant milestone for SCEGGS, with the team progressing to the Finals for the first time. Only division winners qualified for the Finals’ round-robin competition, making their achievement particularly notable.
Throughout the tournament, our students demonstrated impressive strategic thinking, resilience, and sportsmanship, while supporting one another and working collaboratively as a team. Their skill, determination and mutual support were evident throughout the competition as they represented SCEGGS with distinction.
