Market Day returned in a vibrant display of creativity, entrepreneurship and community spirit, as Year 10 Commerce students transformed the School into a colourful marketplace on the final Monday of Term 2.
As part of their Commerce studies, students created and operated their own small businesses, applying classroom learning to a real-world business experience. From developing business concepts and sourcing materials to marketing their products and managing sales, students were responsible for every aspect of their venture. This year’s theme, Colours of the Rainbow, inspired an array of bright and imaginative stalls, with offerings including mac and cheese, nachos, sweet treats, drinks, and handmade bracelets.
Beyond developing valuable business skills, Market Day also supports an important cause. This year, students generated more than $5,000 in revenue, with all proceeds going to Let’s Build a School, a charity that has been improving access to education in rural Cambodia since 2013.
Congratulations to all Year 10 Commerce students on their hard work and enthusiasm, and thank you to the SCEGGS community, including the maintenance and catering teams, for helping make the day such a success.
