School Counsellor/Psychologist
Applications are invited from experienced School Counsellors/Psychologists interested in a permanent position commencing in January 2026. Working predominantly in our Secondary School with students aged 12-18 years old, this is ideally a part-time position (0.6-0.8) but a full-time role may also be considered for a preferred applicant.
The successful applicant will have expertise and experience working with children and adolescents in the provision of counselling support. They will have relevant qualifications as a counsellor and/or psychologist, be able to work effectively with students and their families, able to develop a significant rapport with students, and demonstrate a deep understanding of the emotional and social needs of children. In addition to expertise in individual clinical care, the successful candidate will also be involved in the delivery of capacity building programs across cohorts of students (eg respectful relationships or resilience programs) or to assist groups of parents (eg Tuning in to Teens).
The preferred candidate for this role will enjoy working in a collaborative, team-based environment to develop school-based support plans for individual students, working cooperatively with the School Leadership team, wellbeing and pastoral care staff, and our classroom teachers. They will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, well-developed organisational skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships with external health and allied-health professionals, social workers and other service providers. Experience and evidence of working in an educational setting would be an advantage. They will also be committed to the full life of the School, and supportive of its Christian ethos.

SCEGGS remuneration package for counsellors/psychologists is competitive and well above CMEA salaries. These are paid in accordance with the candidate’s qualifications and level of experience.
